RBYS Field Policy and Schedule

Updated 2/15/06

Thursday Skills:
In the event of excessive rain or bad weather, by 2pm on Thursday, a representative from the EB will post a notice on the website at www.ryebrooksoccer.org that will include 1 of the following messages:

  • Skills cancelled – all skills are cancelled due to weather – do not practice on any of the Crawford Fields
  • All Game Fields Closed – coaches can move to their alternate skills locations (see practice schedule) at their discretion. If the coaches cancel, they must contact their skills trainer on their own
  • If no message has come from the EB by 2pm, but it rains heavily between 2pm-4pm, the coaches are on their own regarding cancellations. We also will ask the coaches and trainers to be respectful of the field conditions, and if the fields are bad, they should either cancel, or move to their alternate areas.

Friday Skills:
In the event of excessive rain or bad weather, by 2pm on Friday, a representative from the EB will send an e-mail notice to the coaches and the skills trainers that will include 1 of the following messages:

  • Skills cancelled – all skills are cancelled due to weather – do not practice on any of the Crawford Fields
  • All Games Field Closed – coaches can move to their alternate skills locations (see practice schedule) at their discretion. If the coaches cancel, they must contact their skills trainer on their own
  • Friday skills could also be cancelled on Thursday based on the condition of the field.
  • If no message has come from the EB by 2pm, but it rains heavily between 2pm-4pm, the coaches are on their own regarding cancellations. We also will ask the coaches and trainers to be respectful of the field conditions, and if the fields are bad, they should either cancel, or move to their alternate areas

Saturday Practice:
In the event of excessive rain or bad weather, by 10am on Saturday, a representative from the EB will post a notice on the website at www.ryebrooksoccer.org that will include 1 of the following messages:

  • Practice cancelled – all practice sessions are cancelled due to weather – do not practice on any of the Crawford Fields
  • All Games Field Closed – coaches can move to their alternate practice locations (see practice schedule) at their discretion. If the coaches cancel, they must contact their skills trainer on their own (assuming they use one on Saturday)
  • If no message has come from the EB by 10am, but it rains heavily between 10am-12pm, the coaches are on their own regarding cancellations. We also will ask the coaches and trainers to be respectful of the field conditions, and if the fields are bad, they should either cancel, or move to their alternate areas

Sunday Games / Weather:
Each week a team is assigned to inspect the fields. In the event of bad weather on Saturday and Saturday night, this will need to be done by 8am. The team representative must then call one of the club presidents

·  Jeff Silverman: Home: 939-2630  / Cell: 203-524-2930

·  Howard Hoff: Home: 937-6902 / Cell: 592-8006

The Club president(s) will in turn contact the league and the coaches to instruct them regarding game cancellations or game changes

In the event of a change or cancellation, the coaches must contact their opposing coach and let them know of the game cancellation/change – this is mandatory

Field Lining:

  • Each week, the same team that has field condition responsibilities, must also line all 3 of the Crawford Fields by 8:00 Sunday morning.
  • Field lining is to be done prior to the first game of the weekend – please note that the first game of the weekend is sometimes scheduled on Saturday. Any make games or scrimmages during the week will be the responsibility of the team making up the game or scrimmaging.
  • The team rep who will be lining the field will make arrangements with Jim Seguljic to pick up the equipment room key
  • The equipment room is located on the side of the picnic pavilion facing the mansion – in the equipment room are the 2 lining machines as well as orange and white spray paint
  • These people are to line both orange fields and the large white field (3 total fields) – the easiest way to do it is to follow the existing lines on the field – walking slowly behind the machine to lay down a think line. After completion of the lining, they are to return the lining machines and paint to the storage room and bring the key back to Jim’s house
  • If it rains on Saturday, when the fields are checked on Sunday, if the lines have been washed out, but the fields are playable, the fields must be then relined.
  • Field lining should be done at times that do not interfere with practice (if at all possible) Schedule

Goals / Corner Flags:

  • The goal storage area is located just past the trees in right field (on our practice field #4)
  • Goals may be used for Weekday skills, but MUST be replaced in the goal storage area and locked up after skills, as the field is used for softball on weeknights
  • Goals may be used for Saturday practices, and can be left on the field after practice
  • At the conclusion of the Sunday games, the team with the last game on the respective field, MUST return the goals to the goal storage area and lock them up
  • GOALS SITED FOR THE GAMES MUST BE SECURED WITH A GOAL ANCHORING DEVICE. It is unacceptable to put the goals out without securing them first. Each coach should have their own set of securing spikes or cords. After your game, if there is another game on the field, you can either remove your anchors and have the other coach re-anchor the goals, or better yet, have the other coach give you their anchors as an exchange
  • Corner Flags are to be picked up and at Peter Gottlieb’s house (15 Red Roof Drive) by the designated team with the first game each weekend. This team should pick up both sets of flags
  • The teams with the final games of the day must return the flags to Peter’s house.
  • Each week, a message will come out with goal and flag responsibilities for the day

Garbage
:

  • Each team MUST police their sidelines both before and after their games to pick up garbage
  • Each coach should remind their opposing coach to police their sidelines as well
  • Teams with the last games of the day will also need to make certain the fields are cleaned
